New Dallas Maverick Rashard Lewis to have knee surgery

My guess is that this is a short-term situation, though. And even if he does miss a portion of the season, he's a minimum contract backup with capable players able to fill in around him. The rotation will be fine without him.

Forward Rashard Lewis will have knee surgery soon, a source told Yahoo. Lewis has previously agreed to sign with Dallas.

We'll update here with news as it comes out about how complicated or serious the surgery is. For those wondering, Lewis has officially signed with the Mavericks after verbally committing earlier on.
