Jason Terry was going to sign with Mavericks until DeAndre Jordan reneged

Dallas wanted to have a reunion with the JET.

The Mavericks offered Jason Terry a contract on the first day of free agency and he planned to join Dallas until DeAndre Jordan reneged on his verbal commitment, Terry told the DMN's Brad Townsend.

Terry, who ended up signing back with the Rockets on a one-year, $1.5-million contract, has the same agent (Dan Fegan) as Jordan and he saw it as a "package deal" -- if Jordan came, so would he. Of course, Jordan pulled his infamous reversal and Terry, concerned that Dallas would spend the year rebuilding, bailed as well.

Seeing Terry back in Dallas blue would have been great and I think he would have actually fit on that hypothetical lineup with Jordan in tow. Alas, it wasn't to be. Ironically, Dallas is actually playing better than Houston, but Raymond Felton has filled in admirably as a backup guard.

Terry said he wants to play 20 seasons. He's in his 18th year as a 38-year-old, so maybe there will be a chance next year to try again.
