"Well, after the first quarter, it was our worst performance of the year, just flat out. We just did a horrible job, and I'm taking full responsibility for what happened the last three quarters. It's a horrible job of coaching these guys and preparing them. We got a little lucky in the first quarter, got some breaks. From then on, 41 points in the second quarter, too many breakdowns, too many lack-of-concentration mistakes that normally are beneath who we are. It's on me. I'm sick to my stomach about this."
On all the Cavs' 3-point shots: "Bad coaching."
"We're going to find out what we're made of from here. This is the lowest point we've been at. When you get to this point, everyone has to come together."
On whether he saw a lack of effort: "I saw a lack of everything out there, and I'm taking the blame."
On why he gets all the blame: "Well, tonight it is because of the score and because I said so."
On his concern with Dirk: "This is not a Dirk thing. This is a Mavericks thing. It's not a Dirk thing. It's a Mavericks thing. You can't go out and perform the way we did the last three quarters and point to Dirk."
On Dirk's stretch of not looking like himself: "Well, if that is indeed the case, then the guys around him need to function at a higher level so that we can, a) get him better shots, b) protect him better on defense and c) play better as a team. But let's not make this a Dirk issue. This is a Mavericks issue. Tonight, I'm telling you, it's on me."
On fixing this: "Well, that's why I'm in the position that I'm in. I've got to look at the film. I've got to ask some hard questions about where we're at. I've got to watch the film first. Our guys know that this is not who we are and this is how we're going to play. We've just got to circle the wagons and get ready for Friday."
On fatigue perhaps being an issue: "No, I don't think there's any other excuses. Thanks for asking, but no."
On Aminu's injury: "He took a hit to his shoulder. I don't have a description of the injury yet but he got checked out at halftime, was very sore, came out and warmed up and just couldn't go."
"Devin got banged in the hand again. He may have another X-ray tonight. Aminu, if he didn't already have an X-ray, probably will."
"It was pretty embarrassing out there. I thought [in the] first quarter, we kind of hung around and then it really started, mid-way second quarter, we couldn't get any stops anymore. We actually had 53 points at half, that's actually OK for us lately offensively, but defensively it was too easy. We made a lot of mistakes in the pick and roll. A lot of gameplan errors. Not executing the way we should. They were shooting the ball well from the outside. One little mistake in pick-and-roll coverage and they found the shooters, found the guys on the rolls. They made us look pretty bad out there."
On whether there was a lack of effort: "I don't know. Any time you get blitzed for 130 at home you've got to look at everything. Sometimes after made baskets they were pushing it right up our throats and we didn't even have a guy back. Gotta look at some of this stuff; I don't know if it's effort or just lack of awareness or everything combined."
On his own offense: "It's OK, I've just got to knock some of those open shots down. We for sure didn't lose this game offensively tonight. We couldn't have said [that] some of these other losses but tonight, we didn't lose it offensively."
On whether the team is focused: "I'm not sure if that's necessarily the problem. We've got to execute the gameplan better and it doesn't matter what we do, if we do jumping jacks at 10:30, we've got to execute at 7:30 when it's time to play."
On what gives him hope to turn things around: "Just work. We've got two days to turn things around now and then after Friday, and then after Friday we've got two days again. We've got to start from scratch and I'm sure we can compete pretty hard here the next two days and the same thing after Friday to get some edge back, get our rotations clear."
On looking at the standings: "Our schedule is tough. Eventually we've got to find ways to win some of these games even though we've got a tough schedule. We've just got to find a way to win some."
On fatigue: "It's been a lot of games but we're probably going to find a decent mix of getting some work in but also getting some rest here. First time I remember here that we only have one game in five or six days. I've got to use that to my advantage but also stay sharp and get sharper."
"We got our ass kicked tonight, man. They just came out and did what they had to do to us. We had no answers. We didn't come out with the aggressive or focus or determination that we needed. We didn't compete. We're not playing like champions, and they took advantage of that."
On bouncing back: "We've got to pay attention to detail. We can't make minor mistakes, we made mistakes [tonight[ that second-year players, rookie players make in this league. We're a veteran team, guys are 13, 14, 16 years in this league. We should know better. We should be much better than we're showing out there tonight. This is a team that's competing for a championship that we played against and we should have accepted the challenge of competing against these guys, and we backed down."
On how disappointed he is after coming to this team to be a contender: "I came here to win and we're three and a half games from being out of the playoffs, which is unacceptable. That's something that we can't accept. We've got to find ways to focus. We've got to key into the details of the game of basketball. We can't screw around in shootaround and practice and joke around all the time, and figure we're going to win games. This is the pros. This is the highest level of basketball. We've got to act that way."
On what the younger guys have to do on this team: "The young guys got to follow our lead. That's what we're here for. We're vets. We're leaders on this team. We've got to follow our lead."
On whether this can be the team he thought: "Yeah, absolutely. We've got the right personnel. We've got enough veteran leadership on this team to compete. We've just got to have that mindset to step up and truly compete."
"We've got to compete. We've got to play harder. We've got to believe in one another and we've got to stay confident. We're still in a good situation. This feels like rock bottom right now, it's a bad, embarrassing loss, but we can't hang our heads for too long because we've got another really good team coming in here Friday night and the schedule isn't get any easier. We've just got to stick together. We're going to go through rough patches and this one hurts and feels like the end of the world, but we've got to get back at it tomorrow."
On whether this is the poorest team performance: "Yeah, I can't remember another game where the team came out and took an L like that."
On what was said in the locker room after the game: "That's between us, man."
On looking at the standings: "I mean, you always played worried and you always play on edge. We have an understanding that the conference is so competitive and the conference is so close, that in two weeks we could be the three seed and in two weeks we could be the 10 seed. We obviously know that in the back of our minds but we control our own destiny. We've just got to get it together and finish these last few games strong and be playing our best basketball going into the playoffs."
On hope of getting things on track: "We've got one of the most talented teams in the NBA and we're just not playing like it."
