The second prospect in the Mavs Moneyball community big board is Jahlil Okafor.
Here is our current big board.
- Karl-Anthony Towns
- Jahlil Okafor
Here's the reasoning given.
Jahlil Okafor. He may be limited in all aspects except for his offense, but isn't that the Mavs way? Plus, with a name like Jahlil Okafor, what else do you need? Although Willie Cauley-Stein is a pretty dope name too.

Okafor, to me is a really big wildcard, and how his career unfold is going to be hugely dependent on how he is used/taught by his first time. If he's expected to carry the offense as a back-to-the-basket center and offensive powerhouse with defense being secondary, i think it's likely he ends up being another Al jefferson. If the team manages to utilize/train him to focus on off-ball offense, rim protection, passing, and as a pick-and-roll threat with Post-ups against lesser opponents, he'll be Tim Duncan. With that in mind, him going to the lakers is probably the worst thing to ever happen considering Byron Scott's preference. Would do wonders under Min if they do pick him though, considering he'll probably be asked to play within the offense with Rubio's talent utilized rather than simply "pass the ball to Okafor to post up in the paint"
