Today, Dirk is 37. We never thought we'd get here when he made his NBA debut in 1998, but here he is, still hooping.
There are hardly words to describe the way he transformed the Mavericks franchise in the decade and a half since, so I won't bother, but instead we as a Mavs Moneyball staff decided to get Dirk birthday presents because that's how nice and caring people we are.
Jonathan said he'd give Dirk a golf watch. Nice, classy, respectable. He'll probably add it to the crate of gold watches already sitting in his closet somewhere.
Doyle wants to give him a signed Glamour Shot of Corey Brewer. No comment.
Andrew said a :/ -- wait, that email was probably in response to another conversation.
Danny offered up a year's supply of Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier. I don't know if that's an actual beer or if he made it up, but it sounds delicious.
Kelly said the entire David Hasselhoff discography, which is a touching tribute, except that Dirk clearly already has that, probably delivered in person by David himself.
I would give Dirk one of those baby carriers that hangs in front, like below. It's a practical gift, and also a little selfish, since we would totally post that on our website if a picture surfaced.
None of the other staffers got Dirk anything because they are scrooges.
Happy birthday Dirk! Hopefully you get something even nicer or more practical than our suggestions.
