Chandler Parsons said DeAndre Jordan was 'scared' to be franchise player

The new face of the franchise brought the hammer down on DeAndre Jordan.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Chandler Parsons spent massive amounts of time recruiting DeAndre Jordan. For about two weeks, Parsons and Jordan were joined at the hip. Parsons thought he had recruited his friend successfully, until DeAndre detonated the franchise back to the dark ages. The Mavericks are now left to pick from the free agent scrap pile. Parsons was kind enough to give a lengthy interview to ESPN Dallas' Tim MacMahon and held back no punches:

"He wasn’t ready for being a franchise player. He was scared. He was scared to take the next step in his career. There was no other reason other than that he was comfortable and he has friendships there. How you make a business decision like that is beyond me. How you ignore an owner like Mark who is in your hometown just waiting for a chance to talk to you is beyond me.

You can debate Parsons' candidacy as a franchise player, but he surely has no reason wearing the crown. The entire interview is worth a read. He doesn't sound like a guy that plans to leave anytime soon.
