Dirk Nowitzki is the best one-trick pony we've ever seen

New, comments

This video proves Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was right about Dirk ... but not in the way he was thinking.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar called Dirk Nowitzki a "one-trick pony" last week. I'll admit, my immediate reaction was to point out that Dirk is the only player in NBA history with 25,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, 1,000 blocks, 1,000 3-pointers and 1,000 steals --- wow that's a lot of tricks (but who's counting).

After sleeping on it for a few nights, I've come to the conclusion that perhaps we should embrace Dirk as the "one-trick pony." If Dirk's sole trick is being such a prolific scorer that he helped revolutionize the game and the power forward position -- all while changing the face of his franchise, leading the Mavs to 12 straight playoff appearances, an NBA Championship and enough memories to make Dumbledore have a freaking seizure, I'll take it. I repeat, enjoy your defense everyone - the Mavs will gladly accept their consolation prize aka 13-time All-Star, 12-time All-NBA player, NBA MVP, Finals MVP and the No. 6 All-Time scorer in the league.

As a cheers to Mr. Abdul-Jabbar for reminding us all of how goddamn good Dirk is at scoring, I made him a present. Everyone be sure to send it his way. His Twitter handle is @kaj33. (If you do actually tweet it at him, though, be very polite about it. Seriously. Let the video do the talking.)

Godspeed and Swish 41.
