Per Marc J. Spears (via Tim MacMahon) of ESPN, free agent small forward Nicolas Batum will take face to face meetings with the Mavericks and Hornets in Dallas, and speak to the Knicks, Wizards and Lakers on the phone.
It was widely expected Batum would be remaining in Charlotte, which was a playoff team this past year with a coach in Steve Clifford who was got some traction in Coach of the Year voting. So, this comes as something of a surprise, but with Chandler Parsons at this point widely expected to leave Dallas and increasing rumblings that Mike Conley will probably stay in Memphis, that Batum would take a meeting with the Mavs is a bit of nice news.
Oh, and before you get too excited that the meetings are in Dallas, it seems Batum’s agent’s office is in a Dallas suburb.
We’ll update this post as news on this develops, and we are collecting all the other free agent rumors and rumblings here.
