Wesley Matthews struggles hard in three-point contest

The guy couldn’t buy a bucket.

NBA: All Star Saturday Night Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Wesley Matthews, the only representative from the Dallas Mavericks at the 2017 All-Star Weekend in New Orleans, sadly gave quite a disappointing performance in Saturday night’s JBL Three-Point Contest.

From the beginning, he struggled and missed every one of his shots in the first rack, and didn’t look like he could get into his groove from there. Wes finished with a measly 11 points and will probably be happy to never think about that showing again. Unfortunately, only the top 3 scorers from round one move forward, so Wes’ night ended early and was left to just watch the rest of the contest go by.

Round One:

Kemba Walker (CHA) - 20 points

Kyrie Irving (CLE) - 20 points

Wesley Matthews (DAL) - 11 points

Eric Gordon (HOU) - 25 points

Nick Young (LAL) - 18 points

C.J. McCollum (POR) - 10 points

Kyle Lowry (TOR) - 9 points

Klay Thompson (GSW) - 18 points

Round Two:

Kemba Walker (CHA) - 20 points

Eric Gordon (HOU) - 20 points

Kyrie Irving (CLE) - 20 points

Championship Tiebreaker:

Eric Gordon (HOU) - 21 points

Kyrie Irving (CLE) - 18 points

So with that, Eric Gordon of the Houston Rockets takes home the 2017 three-point crown.

Wes made it as far as reigning 3 point champion Klay Thompson.. So...let’s celebrate that at least.
