According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, the Dallas Mavericks have signed Gian Clavell to a partially guaranteed minimum deal.
Clavell is a 6’4" guard that starred as a redshirt senior at Colorado State University last year. He averaged 20.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 27 games played for the Rams last season. Clavell led the Mountain West Conference in scoring and also won it’s player of the year award last year as well.
Clavell is a Puerto Rican native and has played professionally in his home country. The 23-year-old sharpshooter was last seen playing for the Miami Heat in the Las Vegas Summer League.

Given the abundance of guards that the Mavs currently have on their roster, this move doesn’t make much sense, but apparently Donnie Nelson and the scouting department saw something in Clavell that made them want to give him a chance. He probably won’t make the final roster, but as good as Dallas’ front office has been lately in finding diamonds in the rough, you never know.
