Dear Dirk Nowitzki, please participate in the #DriveByDunkChallenge

A movement is upon us. Here’s our plea to Dirk: please go dunk a basketball in a stranger’s driveway.

Oh yes, it’s that time of the summer where there’s nothing to watch except baseball, which is okay for some people, I guess. But when basketball is life, the empty void between the NBA Summer League and training camp can cause one to lose their mind.

Luckily for us, hoopers far and wide have started a movement that should give us all that little extra bit of entertainment we need to make it to the 2017-2018 season. That movement is the #DriveByDunkChallenge. During this challenge, a person drives around, looking for basketball goals in driveways to dunk on. Here is one example:

Even local authorities are getting involved.

And then of course you’ve got NBA players getting involved as well. Here’s Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics doing his part.

Is Jaylen Brown not a big enough name to get your attention? What about New Orleans Pelicans superstar, Anthony Davis?

Regardless of who’s doing the challenge, it’s always going to be fun. It’s always going to be silly. But we’re missing one thing, and that’s Dirk Nowitzki.

So on behalf of myself and my colleagues at Mavs Moneyball, we kindly request that you, Dirk Nowitzki, attempt the #DriveByDunkChallenge. Mavs nation needs this. The internet needs this. Hell, you can do it on your new bike if you’d like! That’d be even better.

If you decide to give us what we want though, just be safe out there, don’t hurt yourself and definitely don’t end up like this guy.

Thanks in advance, Dirk. You’re the best.
