Surprising no one, the Tall Baller from the G will be back in Dallas for at least another season. What is of note is the length of the contract, and for how much, as ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reports:

Outside of his legendary status on the floor, Dirk has always led the league in loyalty and team-first mentality, evidenced here once again as the Mavericks sign the hall of famer to a bargain deal.

It’s also important to highlight that the team option on the second year will open up plenty of opportunity for Dirk and the Mavericks to renegotiate next summer, as free agency continues.

Nowitzki enters his 20th season with the Mavericks, having averaged a respectable 14.2 points 6.5 rebounds in a modest 26 minutes per game last season.
