When Kristaps Porzingis entered the NBA, he almost immediately drew comparisons to Dirk Nowitzki. After all, he, like Dirk, is a tall, white European with a wet jumper. Even though that’s pretty much where the comparisons end, the two will inevitably be linked for years to come.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing for Porzingis, though. He hasn’t tried to hide his admiration for the Big German. Last season, Porzingis even expressed his interest in working with Nowitzki over the summer.
“I’m sure it will help me out and improve my game, hopefully, unless Mark Cuban says no,’’ Porzingis told the New York The Post in March. “Dirk is a guy who can really help my game. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to work with him, a few days to get on the court with him and pick his brain.”
Now, Porzingis’ dream is reality.
It’s glorious, isn’t it? Especially Dirk’s shorts.
The two are participating in the NBA’s Africa Game which takes place August 5 in Johannesburg. Nowitzki is co-captain of Team World and will play alongside Porzingis against Team Africa.

Sure, the video is only 17 seconds long but if that doesn’t get you excited for Dirk’s upcoming 20th season then you really need to reconsider your priorities.
Still need more? No problem.

Wouldn’t it be great if Dirk told Kristaps how great Dallas is and that the Mavericks are an organization he needs to play for? A boy can dream, can’t he? Porzingis did and his dream came true.
