Last week Dirk Nowitzki sat down with Marc Stein to talk about a range of things including rehab, being old, and Luka Doncic.
Nowitzki has been rehabbing after a setback in recovery from surgery to remove bone spurs towards the end of last season. In September he had a setback when his tendon “reacted” and, as of about a month ago, he still hadn’t done any serious court work.
On Monday Dirk took shots on the practice court after practice when the media was allowed in for the first time this season.

Though he didn’t address the media that day the lot of reporters stayed and watch him take jumpers long after everyone else had left.
Because Dirk doesn’t normally heap praise on those who aren’t deserving, these glowing compliments of Doncic ought to be given real weight.
“I didn’t have that confidence, that swag, when I got in the league. I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it in this league,” Nowitzki told Stein. “This guy comes here basically knowing he’s going to make it in the league. And that’s how he carries himself on the court.”
Dirk espouses more praise for the Mavericks talented rookie in a piece filled with even more classic Dirk quotes. Check out the link to see the rest of what Dirk had to say.
