THE STORY: The Mavericks made a somewhat surprising but ultimately un-flashy move at the deadline, acquiring Doug McDermott in a three-way trade that sent Devin Harris to the Denver Nuggets. As we’ve explored on the site the past couple days, McDermott fills a need for the Mavs and gives them a couple months to evaluate him. For the Lakers, however, a much flashier acquisition in Isaiah Thomas, who will just kind of be there for 28 games filling in for/backing up Lonzo Ball before moving on to a new home while the Lakers make their Big Pitch to LeBron James.
