WHO: Dallas Mavericks at New York Knicks

WHAT: The Mavs’ first game of a three-game swing through New York and Canada as the region braces for another nor’easter.

WHEN: 6:30 p.m. Central

WHERE: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY

HOW: Fox Sports Southwest, Fox Sports GO or NBA League Pass

THE STORY: It’s the Mecca! MSG! The Garden! No matter what you call it, Madison Square Garden is synonymous with basketball. (And sold out Phish concerts depending on your interests.) Tonight, the NBA takes center stage (sorry, stoners) and while the stakes aren’t what some would hope, the outcome of the game matters to both teams in terms of seeding. Tank seeding, that is.

The Knicks, losers of seven straight, are without unicorn Kristaps Porzingis and Ron Baker who both are out for the season. Enes Kanter, Trey Burke, and Lance Thomas are all questionable tonight as well.

For the Mavs, losers of their last game (c’mon, guys!), just lost Wesley Matthews for the season with a broken leg. He joins the likes of Seth Curry who is also out for the season. Salah Mejri hasn’t played in a while and is questionable as is Dorian Finney-Smith.

So what, dear viewer, can you expect? That’s right, it’s a Jarrett Jack vs. J.J. Barea battle royale! May the best team win and the most deserving team lose. No, seriously. The Mavs need to lose. But lose with pride!

POST SCRIPT: Mavs assistant coach God Shammgod is good friends with rapper Cam’ron of the Diplomats. The two grew up together. So, in honor of the Mavs’ trip to NY, here’s a classic Dipset banger for you.
