GAME THREAD: Playoffs, Day 2

Four more games for mass consumption

NBA: Cleveland Cavaliers at Philadelphia 76ers Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

WHO: 8 NBA teams

WHAT: The opening playoff games

WHERE: Boston, MA; Cleveland, OH; Oklahoma City, OK; Houston, TX

WHEN: 12:00 p.m. CT, 2:30 p.m. CT, 5:30 p.m CT, 8:00 p.m. CT

HOW: ABC, WatchESPN app, TNT

THE STORY: The back half of the NBA’s opening round playoff blitz. Eight games in less than 48 hours is probably more basketball than you can handle. But if you’re watching, here’s where you should talk teams, players, and how the Mavericks might compete again one day.

In terms of sheer star power, this slate of games might be better than the Saturday contests. James Harden, Lebron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Russell Westbrook are four of the five to six MVP candidates (Anthony Davis and maybe Kevin Durant being the other two). The particular match ups today are rather fun, with the slightly disappointing Bucks getting a chance against the less than healthy Boston Celtics. The Cavs get a chance to show if the playoff switch is real for them. The Raptors face the demons of an opening round home playoff game (which they never seem to win). The forces of Westbrook and Donovan Mitchell colliding should be a riot. The only clunker of the day should be the Rockets versus the Wolves and that’s because the Rockets should beat the crap out of them.
