WHO: Dallas Mavericks at Philadelphia 76ers
WHAT: An early afternoon game with a team that has nothing to play for against the hottest team in the NBA.
WHEN: 12 p.m. Central Time
WHERE: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
HOW: Fox Sports Southwest, NBATV or NBA League Pass
THE STORY: The Mavericks pulled off a tanking masterpiece against the Detroit Pistons on Friday, fighting extremely hard, like they always do but losing in the end. Jonathan Motley had a career-high 26 points and a career-high 12 rebounds and has been super fun to watch in this recent stretch of games.
The 76ers are steamrolling the NBA right now, even with the injury to Joel Embiid. Philly hasn’t missed a beat since their best player went down and are in the midst of a league-high 13-game winning streak. Ben Simmons has been out of this world and has to be the front-runner for the Rookie of the Year award. Over Simmons last 10 games, he’s averaging a triple-double with 14.5 points, 10.4 rebounds and 10.5 assists per game.
So the Mavericks should have their hands full. I say should because when you consider the 76ers circumstances (early game at home, playing a totally inferior opponent, an opponent that absolutely refuses to die) I could see the potential for an upset if the 76ers aren’t locked in. Go Mavs.
