The Dallas Mavericks have traded pick #54 (which became SMU’s Shake Milton) to the Philadelphia 76ers for picks #56 and #60.
With the 56th pick, Dallas drafted Lousiville big man Ray Spalding, a wiry 6’10 athlete and intriguing defensive prospect who played three years with the Cardinals. Spalding racked up steals and blocks with Lousiville, thanks to a reported 7’4 wingspan.
With the 60th pick, Dallas drafted Kostas Antetokounmpo, one of the four brothers of Giannis who played a little college ball at Dayton. Kostas left Dayton despite not playing much as a redshirt freshman, and his decision to stay in the draft caught some by surprise. You will not be surprised, however, to learn that Antetokounmpo has long arms (6’9 with a 7’2 wingspan) and is very raw.
It remains to be seen who Dallas might pick up on the undrafted free agent market. There are still a number of quality players available, and we should hear about those signings soon.
