2 things to watch as the Dallas Mavericks host the Houston Rockets

Houston faces a very different team this time around in Dallas

The last time the Dallas Mavericks hosted the Houston Rockets, Luka Doncic came alive down the stretch to score 11 straight to lead Dallas to a 107-104 victory. Each team looks quite different now compared to early December, with the Rockets riding an 8 game winning streak and the Mavericks winning just one in their last 10.

Here’s what’s worth watching in the Sunday afternoon contest.

“Containing” James Harden

In three games against the Mavericks, MVP candidate James Harden averages just 30 points in three contests versus Dallas, 6 whole points below his career average. Yet the first two contests came against a Maverick team which was much better at defense to be kind. With the matador defense Dallas has played since All-Star break, it’s entirely possible Harden goes for a season high.

41 points to Wilt

Perhaps the last interesting thing for Dallas from a game to game stand point is Dirk’s chase of Wilt Chamberlain’s place on the NBA All Time scoring list. Dirk needs just 41 points to pass the NBA great.

After shooting just 2 of 15 in the first two games of the Maverick road trip, Dirk hit 6 of 11 in Orlando and can hopefully continue the strong shooting against Houston.

How to Watch

Tip off is set for 5 CT, and can be watched on FSSW or NBA League Pass.
