Bobi and Tobi is no more in Philly. And I’m sad about that.
The Dallas Mavericks will reportedly be signing 7’3” Serbian center Boban Marjanovic, per Marc Stein. Boban is a skilled player who can protect the rim and the reported deal, 2 years $7 million is a bargain for a big (and I mean BIG) backup center. Fun fact: the Mavericks will now have two of the tallest players in the NBA (Kristaps Porzingis is 7’3”, too).
But let’s get back to the Bobi and Tobi breakup.
Sixers forward Tobias Harris’ reaction when he learned about the pending breakup:
And then Boban’s reaction to Tobias’ reaction:
The Mavericks wrecked a good home. THEY’RE HOMEWRECKERS!
The only thing we can promise the Sixers (and Tobias especially) is that we’ll do our best to take care of Boban. We’ll make sure he learns to avoid I-635 at all costs. We’ll guide him to the best BBQ joints. We’ll instill in him a sense of duty as it relates to bringing breakfast tacos to morning meetings (this is a Texas tradition). We’ll make sure he never visits a library — he hasn’t had the best luck in libraries of late.
Boban should fit in well in the Dallas locker room. On the court, I look forward to the pick-and-roll scenarios with him and reigning Rookie of the Year, Luka Doncic.
The Mavericks broke up a good home, but here at Mavs Moneyball, we are determined to ease the pain by taking care of Boban.
And it seems like Boban himself is excited about the move to Dallas.
