Luka Doncic is now second over all in Western conference All-Star voting, according to the second release of All Star vote returns from the NBA.

The vaunted Los Angeles Lakers “Get Out the Vote” machine kicked into gear following the initial release of returns on January 2nd, and Lebron James, Anthony Davis, and Alex Caruso saw huge jumps in voting totals. Luka Doncic now trails Lebron James by just 82,001 votes.

Voting totals are important with the lead vote getting in each conference becoming a captain. Captains then get a chance to select a team from the other All Stars, including both voted in starters and reserves, who are chosen by coaches.

In the eyes of many die-hard Mavericks fans, Luka Doncic as captain would be an important first step in a years-long process of getting star-level free agents to join him Dallas. At minimum, the selection of teams would become must watch television for all Mavericks fans.

How to vote is remarkably easy: go to google, type in “NBA All Star Vote” then a selection screen comes up, you pick players, and press vote. Rinse, repeat, for every 24 hours for the next 10 days.

We might not have the Laker machine, but between Dallas and Slovenian, certainly we can over take a mere 80,000 or so votes.
