Luka Doncic’s decision to sign with Jordan Brand in December of 2019 came as no surprise to those who follow the industry. Less than a year later, the star of Doncic is bright enough to warrant a special edition of the Air Jordan 35.

Per DJ Folk, the shoe should debut in May of 2021 and will be simply called “Luka”.

This rapid ascension of Doncic within Jordan Brand is likely unsurprising to Mavericks fans, given Luka’s All-NBA worthy second season as well his early positioning in the betting for the 2020-21 MVP race. But considering rookie sensation Zion Williamson signed with Jordan Brand six months prior, it seemed that he and not Luka Doncic might be the face of younger Jordan Athletes.

Doncic’s success and growing popularity around the world might have Jordan Brand reconsidering their marketing strategy for the coming seasons. After all, Doncic’s jersey was the second most purchased jersey this season, trailing only generational superstar and Lakers player Lebron James.

There’s a growing case to be made that Doncic should be in line to recieve his own signature sneaker line, but for now the Air Jordan 35 SE “Luka” will have to do for those of us sneakerheads.
