The Mavericks and Clippers will resume their first round series and play Game 6 on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Central Time, the NBA announced on Friday.
Players decided not to play Wednesday’s playoff games due to the police violence against Black Americans in recent months, which was heightened due to the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday. The players, the NBA and the NBAPA have been working to come to an agreement for what needs to happen for games to start back up, after it was hinted at that some players didn’t want the season to restart at all. The Milwaukee Bucks were the first to strike, refusing to play against the Orlando Magic early Wednesday afternoon. The rest of the players followed their lead, with the NBA officially postponning the rest of the scheduled playoff games.
As per the agreement with the players to return to play, the NBA and the NBAPA announced three measures to help combat police violence, with the major one being that every NBA arena will be turned into a polling location this year for the election in November.
Here is the full playoff schedule for both Saturday and Sunday, with the rest of the slate coming later. All the remaining Mavericks games will broadcast locally on Fox Sports Southwest.
