WHO: Dallas Mavericks at San Antonio Spurs
WHAT: The Mavericks first meeting with their in-state rival.
WHERE: AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas
WHEN: 7:30 p.m. CT
HOW: Fox Sports Southwest or NBA League Pass
THE STORY: Dallas snapped their four game losing streak against Indiana on Wednesday, thanks to the Mavericks supporting cast giving Luka Doncic some support, led by a season-high 27 points from Kristaps Porzingis.
The Mavericks will attempt to climb back over .500 again, but it won’t be easy — the Spurs are good and the Mavericks are still missing a handful of crucial players due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Maxi Kleber, Dwight Powell, Josh Richardson and Dorian Finney-Smith are all expected to miss this game and there isn’t any word on how close those four will return.
San Antonio is having a bit of a resurgent season so far, out to an 8-7 start through 15 games. DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge are still around and doing their same deals, but the Spurs drafts from the last handful of years are finally paying off. Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson and Lonnie Walker are all averaging double-digit scoring per game and providing good defense as well. That’s not even counting current rookie Devin Vassell, who only averages 5.1 points and 18 minutes per game, but has been a huge positive on/off guy for the Spurs.
This won’t be an easy game for the Mavericks, on the road again. Should be a fun game to watch! Enjoy your Friday night everyone.
