UPDATE - 7:32 p.m. CST

Jalen Brunson, Josh Richardson and Dorian Finney-Smith are the three players in healthy and safety protocols, per Shams Charania. The quarantine for the two players who tested negative will last at least seven days, meaning they will miss at least three games. The player that tested positive will be out for a longer period of time, according to NBA protocols.

Original story:

Per a recent Shams Charania tweet, the Dallas Mavericks have had a player test positive for COVID-19 and there also two players in safety protocols. Those three players remain in Denver, while the rest of the team has flown back to Dallas. Charania’s report has also been confirmed by Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News and his sources.

If the two players continue to test negative, they could potentially join the team sooner than the player who is positive.

It is unclear who the players are, but Luka Doncic has recently uploaded a picture on his Instagram account of him on an airplane watching a Real Madrid basketball game. This indicates Doncic is not one of the players in protocols.

We will likely know more when the Mavericks release their next injury report, or even their game notes before they face Orlando on Sunday. Head coach Rick Carlisle will also address the media sometime before that next home game.
