Wednesday night’s scheduled game between the Dallas Mavericks and Detroit Pistons at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas will not take place. The NBA announced Tuesday that it is rescheduling the game.
The statement from the league:
NEW YORK, Feb. 16, 2021 – The National Basketball Association announced today that the Detroit Pistons at Dallas Mavericks game scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed due to government shutdown of American Airlines Center because of severe weather conditions in Dallas.
The game will be rescheduled at a later date.
Dallas, like much of the rest of Texas, is experiencing an unprecedented winter weather event. Millions across the state are without power—some have been without electricity for days—as temperatures drop into the single-digits.
More severe weather, including snow and sleet, is expected to hit Dallas overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. The additional accumulation will only worsen already dire conditions in the area.
This is the second time this season that a Mavericks game has been postponed. Their game scheduled for January 11 against the New Orleans Pelicans was postponed because of Covid-19 health and safety protocols.
