Writer and podcaster Seth Partnow of the Athletic (former front office guy with the Milwaukee Bucks as well) joins me to discuss two of his most recent pieces that impact the Mavericks directly.
First, his piece from a couple of weeks ago on drop coverage. He explains the theory behind it as a basis for defense and what teams do with it. Then he talks about why it’s been very ineffective this year. Dallas runs this defense a lot this season and last with Kristaps Porzingis. Then we pivot to the problems with Kristaps Porzingis at the moment. He’s not playing good defense and as the key cog for the Dallas line of defense at the rim, that is concerning.

It’s a lengthy discussion and probably a bit more of a deeper dive than I do on many podcast episodes. But Seth’s a smart guy, so it felt worth it to ask him questions that Josh and I don’t have the time to answer.
