GAME THREAD: Golden State Warriors at Dallas Mavericks

New, comments

The Mavericks losing streak is over as they try to start a different kind of streak against the Warriors.

NBA: Dallas Mavericks at Golden State Warriors Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

WHO: Golden State Warriors vs. Dallas Mavericks

WHAT: The Mavericks try to win two games in a row for the first time since the Bush administration.

WHERE: American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX

WHEN: 6:30 p.m. CT

HOW: TNT

THE STORY: Dallas snapped its six game losing streak on Wednesday to the Atlanta Hawks. The team entered the Hawks game completely healthy and with all players available to play for the first time all season, so in a way, it feels like the season is starting over again. The Mavericks have a fresh start to climb the standings and it appears they’ll have a full roster yet again, as Kristaps Porzingis is not on the injury report for tonight.

The Mavericks are 9-13 and tonight marks the beginning of seven consecutive home games. This is the chance for the Mavericks to make a serious run and anything less than a 4-3 record in these next seven will be wildly disappointing. Now is the time for the Mavericks to start looking like the Mavericks we all think they can be.

Tonight won’t be easy. After a slow start, the Warriors have been feisty. The roster past Steph Curry and Draymond Green is mostly a mess, but newsflash: Steph Curry is very good. Golden State will be seriously undermanned in the paint, as both Kevon Looney and rookie James Wiseman are out due to the injuries. This could be a big game for Porzingis and the Mavericks guards attempting to attack the rim.
