Luka Doncic rumored to be cover athlete for NBA 2K22

There’s an entire subsection of the internet (mainly Reddit and Twitter) dedicated to very specific leaks in terms of sports video games. Who is on the cover is usually a very big deal and as of this morning, it appears that as of now the next cover athlete for NBA 2K22 is going to be Dallas Maverick player Luka Doncic.

Initially posted by the account @2kintel, the tweet (which has since been deleted) had this screenshot:

While obviously just art at this point, it’s fair to assume Luka Doncic is a real possibility for the cover.

It seems even more likely when knowing that Dirk Nowitzki is almost certainly the cover player for the Legends edition of the game. Jason Schreier, a Bloomberg, confirmed a larger 2K leak’s accuracy a few weeks ago.

It would be quite something to see both Luka Doncic and Dirk Nowitzki on the covers for the same game, even more so considering Dirk was never really the type of player to get consideration for a cover during his playing days.

We’ll see if these leaks turn out to be true when the game (and various editions) come out later this year.
