Luka Doncic and Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki are NBA 2k22 cover athletes, 2K Sports announced Wednesday morning. Doncic will grace two different covers — the standard edition and cross-gen digital bundle — while Nowitzki will join Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Kevin Durant on the special edition version celebrating the NBA’s 75th anniversary.
This will be the first time a Dallas Mavericks player has been featured on not only an NBA 2K cover, but any basketball video game cover. Nowitzki was on the covers of NBA Live 07 and 08, but only for German copies. Same goes for the German version of NBA 2 Night 2002.
This cover will be available on the standard edition of game, available on Switch, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. If you want a physical version to put on your self, it’s available on all the platforms listed except PC.
Cross-Gen Digital Bundle
This cover is available as part of a digital bundle, which includes the last-gen and current gen versions of the game. So for example, if you want the PS4 and PS5 editions, you need to get this bundle. Same goes for if you want the Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X versions.
This is a digital only package, so unfortunately this artwork will not be available on a physical box.
NBA 75th Anniversary Edition
Here is the Dirk cover! Dirk joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Kevin Durant for 2K’s special edition cover, which is celebrating the NBA’s 75th anniversary. 2K Sports has typically done a “Legends Edition” version of the game for years now, so it’s great to see Nowitzki get some shine. He’s even front and center in the artwork. This version is available on Switch, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. Same platforms for the physical version, except PC, if you want a copy on your self or bookcase.
In addition, there is a GameStop exclusive version of the game that features Candice Parker from the WNBA.
All versions are available to pre-order now. NBA 2k22 releases September 10.
