The Mavs Moneyball Podcast: Looking back at 2019 free agency

During this sleepy holiday weekend in the states, we decided to repost our 2019 free agency podcast to see how well our takes have held up.

While we celebrate a holiday here in the United States and our staff attempts to take some needed time away, we thought it’d be fun if we used this time away to repost one of our older podcasts from 2019 and see how it holds up today.

Specifically, it’s the podcast myself and Kirk recorded after the Mavericks extremely disappointing first day of free agency, back in July of 2019. That offseason was pivotal, as you can see the cracks of the Mavericks leadership foundation start to show after the misfires. Donnie Nelson and Rick Carlisle are no longer with the Mavericks and you could argue in part due to the Mavericks lack of improving the roster since the trade for Kristaps Porzingis in February 2019.

So have a listen, let us know how wrong or right we were. We get awfully mad about missing out on Patrick Beverley, which is really funny. I think the broader points still hold up.
