According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, the Mavericks will play on Christmas for the second straight year, this time against the Utah Jazz

Last year, the Mavericks played the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day and it wasn’t the best game by any stretch. Dallas is likely to play on Christmas ever year Luka Doncic is a Maverick, simply because the league sees the day as their holiday showcase. Interestingly enough, though, the Mavericks will likely be going head to head with a NFL game, as the Colts and Cardinals play the second NFL match up of Christmas Day.
Dallas versus Utah is a really interesting basketball match up, a game where “styles make fights” so to speak. The Mavericks run a heliocentric offense centered around Luka Doncic and the Jazz have, at least on paper, a very good defense anchored by Rudy Gobert. Last season the Jazz beat Dallas in two of three match ups, but the two losses came during the toughest part of the schedule for the Mavericks as they were also trying to get back on their feet following the COVID protocol enforced on a significant chunk of the roster.
Either way, a Christmas day game (at night) is good news for Dallas fans who want to watch hoops whenever they can.
