We learned Friday that a host of Dallas Mavericks were heading to Slovenia this week to present Luka Doncic with his max deal contract extension to stay with the Dallas Mavericks. Now, thanks to our friends in country, we’ve learned some details about what’s happening and when.

ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reports that the signing will happen tomorrow.

However, our local correspondent Iztok Franko reports that the extension is happening later this afternoon (via local television).

According to Franko, the interview with Jason Kidd went as follows (full interview can be found here):

Kidd: “It’s beautiful. The weather, what a beautiful day. And I’m looking forward to coming back to Slovenia. Not just because of Luka, but because of the city.”

Reporter: How long are you staying?”

Kidd: “We are here for two days.”

Reporter: “So not a lot of sight seeing?”

Kidd: “No, we’re going for a walk here and walk back to the hotel.”

Reporter: Can I ask you when is the signing of the contract taking place?”

Kidd:”I think it’s happening this afternoon.”

Then Kidd added: “No surprises, yes.”

So take that for what you will. The extension is happening, period. When is a small matter of debate, but we’ll find out soon enough either way.
