After a few weeks of reports from sourced reporters, the Dallas Mavericks have officially confirmed the coaching staff which will be working under new head coach Jason Kidd.

Last month, Tim MacMahan reported the Mavericks were close to hiring former Suns coach Igor Kokosov. Given the listing on the press release, it seems Kokosov is Kidd’s lead assistant coach. Kokosov was coach of the Slovenian national team in 2017, the year Slovenia won Eurobasket.

Sean Sweeney was the earliest reported hire, way back in early July by Marc Stein. He joins Kidd for the third time, working with Kidd in both Brooklyn and Milwaukee.

Jared Dudley also joins the staff after finishing his playing career last season with the Los Angeles Lakers. His departure from LA was the cause of some consternation, at least from Lebron James.

Greg St. Jean, who recently coached the Summer League Mavericks, joins Dallas after spending the previous two years as a player development coach and advance scout in Los Angeles.

Kristi Tolliver joins the Mavericks after coaching with the Washington Wizards from 2018 to 2020. She’s also an active WNBA player, currently with the Los Angeles Sparks and she’s had an extremely decorated playing career to date.

Darrell Armstrong, Peter Patton, God Shammgod all return to the Mavericks after finishing last season with Rick Carlisle’s coaching staff.

It’s a varied coaching staff, to say the least, and after over a decade with Rick Carlisle at the helm, it’s going to be interesting seeing what the roles of these coaches will be within the Dallas organization.
