After getting foreshadowed by Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News this morning, Mark Cuban confirmed the news that Dallas Maverick Radio broadcasts will now be heard on 97.1 The Eagle and that long time voice of the Mavericks Chuck Cooperstein will still do play-by-play
Mavericks owner @mcuban confirms that the team's radio game broadcasts are moving to @theeagledallas. Shocker: He made the official announcement on @theeagledallas airwaves.

Naturally, Mavericks play-by-play extraordinaire @coopmavs will, as always, continue to be on the call.
Cuban later followed up noting that Brad Davis will still be Coop’s broadcast partner.
The Dallas-Fort Worth Rock station made one sports-related move already recently, becoming the home for the Ben and Skin show after they departed 105.3 The Fan.
The Mavericks were with ESPN 103.3 for 20 years but with ESPN deciding in October of 2020 to pull out of the local sports market, the station transitioned to a national sports only talk station. That resulted in the eventual need for Dallas Mavericks radio broadcasts to find a new home.
The Eagle is a natural fit despite being a rock station. The aforementioned Ben and Skin show is cohosted by Dallas Mavericks tv color analyst Jeff “Skin” Wade. Skin’s been with the Mavericks since the middle of the 2008-09 season after owner Mark Cuban invited him to join the broadcasts.
If you’ve never listened to Coop on the play by play, I really recommend giving it a try if you want the occasional alternative to the television broadcast. He does a great job.
