Luka Doncic, Adolis Garcia swap jerseys

The newly-minted World Series champ met with a young local fan

Before the Dallas Mavericks tipped off against the Houston Astros on Tuesday night, Luka Doncic had the opportunity to trade a couple of signed jerseys with Rangers’ star and ALCS MVP Adolis Garcia.

The pair exchanged some kind words in Spanish as Dallas’ resident polyglot picked up fluency during his time with Real Madrid.

During the Ranger’s World Series run, Luka and Dirk Nowitzki made it a point to attend a number of the Rangers faceoffs against their hated rivals, the Houston Astros in the ALCS. (As luck would have it, the Rangers lost every home game Luka and Dirk attended. Nice, though, that Garcia doesn’t seem to have held it against Doncic. Winning a ring will do that.)

Dallas Morning News Brad Townsend reporter spoke to Doncic after game 5 of the ALCS and, when questioned, Luka mentioned Adolis as his favorite Rangers player. It makes sense. Adolis, aka El Bombi, was equally beloved and despised by Rangers fans and opposing fanbases respectively for his exuberant play and his unabashed swag — especially after hitting one of his many, many postseason home runs. It tracks that Luka, something of a showman himself, would appreciate the flair that Garcia brings to the game.

With any luck, some of Adolis’ winning ways will rub off on the Mavericks as a whole.
