Stats Rundown: 3 stats to know from the Mavericks 122-96 loss to the Rockets

The undermanned Mavericks just weren’t stand a chance

NBA: Dallas Mavericks at Houston Rockets Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks were defeated 122-96 by the Houston Rockets. The Mavericks were missing four of their five best players and simply did not have enough talent to compete. With that being said here are the stats to know without further ado.

0: Minutes played by Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Dereck Lively II, Dante Exum, Josh Green and Maxi Kleber

The story of this game was told by the players who didn’t play, more so than the players who did. The term scheduled loss is thrown around frequently. This game wasn’t so much a scheduled loss as a forfeit.

The Mavericks were essentially the equivalent of a beer league softball team who doesn’t have enough players show up so they forfeit the game. They may pick up players to play, but the outcome is decided before the game starts.

1: How many more threes Grant Williams has to miss to dip below 30 percent from three since the first seven games

It is unfair to criticize Williams for this game. He is a stand-still shooter who requires his shots to be created for him. Unfortunately all of the Mavericks creators were injured. The problem is Williams is now 26-of-86 from three since those first seven games after missing all three of his threes tonight. He simply has to make more shots

8: Points for Jaden Hardy on 17 shots

Hardy was tasked with stepping up due to the absence of Doncic, Irving and Exum. Hardy was not up to the task. This was simply the latest in a long line of failures for Hardy, who has failed to follow up a promising rookie season.

He was 3-of-17 from the floor and 2-of-12 from three. His shooting and finishing will be his defining skill if he is able to make it in the NBA. He has to find his jumper to be of any use.
