Mavericks Injury Update: Luka Doncic out against the Knicks

After limping through the Grizzlies game, Doncic gets a night off

NBA: Memphis Grizzlies at Dallas Mavericks Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Luka Doncic will miss Thursday night’s game against the New York Knicks, the Mavericks announced through their injury report. NBA insider Marc Stein was the first to report.

Against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday Doncic had a Grizzlies player land on his leg during a drive in the first quarter. Doncic would then head back to the locker room multiple times, but continued to stay in the game otherwise. Doncic appeared visibly labored throughout the game and had one of his worst shooting nights of the season as the Mavericks lost to an undermanned Grizzlies team 120-103.

For the rest of the injury report, Doncic will join Dante Exum, who is already listed as out. Both Dereck Lively and Maxi Kleber are also likely to miss the game, as they are currently listed as doubtful. This is at least a change for Kleber, who has missed almost two months with a dislocated toe and has been listed as “out” on injury reports well in advance of games. An upgrade to doubtful at least implies he’s finally trending in the right direction.

Grant Williams played only seven minutes against Memphis, although that was mostly assumed to be a coach’s decision, and he is listed as questionable with a right ankle sprain.
