Luka Doncic leads all guards in All-Star fan voting

Doncic is first among guards across both conferences

The NBA released the first results for the NBA All-Star game fan vote Thursday and Luka Doncic is not only tops all Western Conference guards in fan votes, but he tops all guards across both conferences.

Doncic has 1.45 million votes to lead the West over the Warriors Steph Curry and the Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Tyrese Haliburton leads guards in the Eastern Conference with 1.38 million votes.

The only other Maverick in the top 10 of voting for their position is naturally Kyrie Irving, who started last season’s All-Star game. Irving is fifth in the West with 388,170 votes. Irving is about a million votes behind second place Curry, so it’s unlikely Irving will reach one of the two starting spots to start next to his backcourt mate Doncic.

Fans account for 50 percent of the vote to decide All-Star starters. If the results hold, Doncic will likely start his fourth All-Star game, previously starting the 2020, 2021, and 2023 games.
